About Me
There are few things that are as satisfying to me as good design. Finding a solution to a design problem that does its intended purpose elegantly and efficiently is like adding the finishing piece to a jigsaw puzzle - it just feels right. Chasing that satisfaction has led me on the path to working with some wonderful clients over the years, and afforded me the opportunity to learn a lot about design on a creative and technical level.
A little bit about my background; I started my career working for Fairfax Media in advertising design for print, specifically newspaper and magazine advertising across the company's array of regional Australian publications. It was in that role that I learned the fundamentals - the importance of aesthetic design, as well as using content hierarchy to highlight the most important information of a piece of advertising organically, in order to draw reader attention to the most relevant content first. That basic design theory - the mix of visual design with logical content hierarchy - is a fundamental principal that I still apply to the work I do all these years later, even web based work. When it comes right down to it, web and graphic design is all about delivering the most important information to an intended party in a dynamic way.
From advertising design I moved on to freelance client work in 2005, starting off with graphic design and branding projects for small businesses. From there things grew in leaps and bounds. I expanded into website design, and even began to offer my illustration skills to clients, which was something that I had just practiced as a personal hobby up until that point.
My passion for design work is still as strong today as it was when I first entered the industry, which is getting close to two decades ago. If you have any questions, or if you think that I might be a good fit for your design project, don't hesitate to get in touch.
